The United Kingdom
It has been 2 weeks since I've arrived in the UK. So I toured a bit of London before coming to Plymouth.
LONDON
I was a very boring tourist. Actually, I'm really not. My aunts are. They went to the usual places like Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, London Eye, Buckingham Palace, etc. Which is cool but I wanted to see more such as their business area; the Lloyd's Building and all. Places not a lot of tourists go, you see. But it's alright I guess, I loved it.
The Changing of Guards at the Buckingham Palace was great. There's the marching band and all. Damn, I like that part best. Hahaha. It brought back a lot of memories.
We went to the Harry Potter studio as well. Gosh! I wish I could live there! It was AMAZING! I don't really know how to explain it to you guys. All the props, the costumes, behind the scenes, the drawings, models of all the buildings including the MAJESTIC school. Greatest thing I've ever seen. I can't even begin to express my feelings and thoughts about it. It's just really really amazing. I was in awe.
We also went to Stonehenge, Windsor Castle and City of Bath. The history behind these places are incredible. History, Culture, and especially architecture. I just love it. Just BEAUTIFUL. Really really beautiful. There's no such thing like this in Singapore. NO SUCH THING WHATSOEVER. I mean, we do have culture and history but that's like whatever. In UK, it is way different. I especially love Windsor Castle. I love reading about the Kings and Queens of Europe. Like, what if Singapore had royalty? It would be very interesting.
PLYMOUTH
So after 5 days in London, we finally traveled to Plymouth. We stayed at Saltash; it's like a 30 minutes drive from Plymouth city centre. So first day here we didn't do much because of the drive. Took about 4 hours from London to Plymouth. So we checked in to out resort. The next day, we went to Tavistock. Lovely place. But there's lots of bees. I can live WITHOUT it. Hahaha. Then we went to Dartmoor. Not much but there's a market place there which is lovely for the small town.
Next day we went town hopping. Round Robin. We took a ferry from Totnes to Dartmouth. And then we walked around Dartmouth. Such a beautiful place. We visited the Bayard's Cove Fort. I love that place. Basically because it's a fort and it looks super cozy. Hahaha.
So on the 10th of September, I officially moved in to my new place. And that morning, they leave UK to go back home. Very emotional day for me as it was my 22nd birthday and I was completely alone on my birthday. I like to spend my birthday quietly, alone in my room but then, back in Singapore, I had friends and family with me. Here, I was completely alone that day. There was another tenant that has already moved in then but didn't see him till like the next week. So I walked around for a bit and reached home about 4pm and did nothing but lay in bed crying. Was so emotional and tired from crying, I slept before the sun went down and slept the whole night through like a baby.
I found out the next day that some of my friends are coming down on the 12th afternoon and I was extremely happy! I was so thrilled, I couldn't stop smiling when I met them. Best day since my birthday. HAHAHA! Anyway, after that was just school stuff all the way which I will update when classes starts.
Till then,
Keep smiling,
Suhaidah
